SSC CGL is divided into 4 tiers. Tier-1 is objective type and online test. It is compulsory for all. Tier 2 is also an objective type. While paper 1 and 2 of tier 2 are compulsory for all, paper 3 and paper 4 is for students who apply for AAO and JSO. Tier 3 is compulsory and is descriptive in nature. It is an offline paper i.e. you have to write with pen and paper. Tier 4 is a skill test and qualifying in nature. It means you are required to obtain minimum marks and marks of this phase are not added to prepare the final merit list. This phase is not applicable to all posts.
